We traveled to Hawaii for my parents’ 50th wedding anniversary and stayed here for 4 days. This is a great old house that has been nicely upgraded and has a lot of character. One of the bathrooms and one bedroom are only accessible from outside, which confused us at first but they were all clean.
The house sits right on the bay and allows you to really open it up to let the breezes blow through. That made it comfortable through most of the day. The kitchen was well-appointed and clean.
There is a great kayak rental place around the corner (Ehu and Kai’s) which allows you to put in right from the bay rather than having to rent a kayak further up the hill and driving it down. They were very nice. There’s also a small park nearby and a well-stocked fruit stand. The gardner gave us a great tip on a secluded sandy beach a short drive away (look up Ke’ei Beach) that was completely empty and had tons of coconut palms and tide pools to explore.
The house is also not too far from a well-stocked supermarket just up the hill and is a short drive from Kona but far enough away to feel like you’re out of the city.
We had a great time and highly recommend this rental! Thank you for having us.
