What a great place! It was perfect for our needs. The location- close to food and shopping but central enough so drives up to Hanalei and down to Poipu never felt too long. Also- falling asleep every night listening to the waves crash with the ocean breeze blowing in through the slider was amazing! We loved the location and it was perfect for our active vacation! Hosts were very responsive with any questions we had. I would definitely stay there again

Booked through Vacay, but VRBO tacked on additional charges after booking so beware. Other than that, we LOVED everything about this stay. The kitchen is stocked well for cooking, Plenty of towels provided. The coffee and cookies were a sweet touch. The location is central to North to South sides of Kauai. I can think of nothing better than falling asleep and waking up to the sound of the waves on the shore. The full view of the ocean feels as if you have the ocean all to yourself. The peaceful days and sunrises here are incredible. We will 100% be back to stay at Kapa’a Sands.
Hidden Gem - not a resort!

This is not typical travel lodging. The rooms here are stocked with amenities I would not expect in even a well-furnished AirBnB. The kitchen has every took you could imagine. The proximity to multiple beaches, restaurants, and other amenities (like the 4-mile boardwalk ideal for biking, jogging, or walking) is confusing given how secluded the area is - and especially given that the other hotels in the area feel like hotels. This space feels more like a perfectly-manicured home. I cannot overstress just how truly private yet well-managed these units are. Booking space in any of the nearby hotels, although they are beautiful and have their own charm, is a mistake if The Sands has any opening. If you can afford the beachfront view, do it! You will thank yourself with the memories for years.

This studio was small but very cozy. The direct view of the ocean is well worth it! We loved sleeping to the sound of the waves. Also enjoyed many meals on the lanai. Watching the sunrise on the lawn was spectacular!

We liked that this is a small property not a 3-4 story multi building complex. On first floor with endless waves breaking on the shore below the green lawn. Very private with only the occasional fellow guest between our patio and the ocean.

This condo is conveniently located within walking distance of numerous restaurants and shops. We chose it for its proximity to the airport and many of the activities we had planned. Communication with the host was excellent throughout the entire process, and we had a wonderful experience during our stay.

The condo was clean, comfortable and so very close to the ocean, it was amazing! Hearing the sound of the ocean, being able to start every morning walking just a few steps from lounging on the lanai and dipping your feet in the ocean was heaven. The kitchen had everything you needed to prepare meals and the little gift basket on the table of coffee and sweets was very thoughtful. Would definitely visit here again.

We enjoyed this stay - the location was amazing (could listen to the waves from the room, great lanai area, short walk down to the water). The unit was clean, the kitchen was well-stocked, the supplies for the beach were super useful, and the welcome gift of local goodies was appreciated. We will definitely stay again.

We cooked a number of meals and also made use of their blender to make fruit smoothies. The wifi was fast and we had no issues with it. The check-in and check-out processes were smooth. Vacasa even left us a welcome treat :) We wouldn't hesitate to travel with Vacasa again. Thank you!

This spot was a wonderful landing place after our flight. We stayed at 3 locations during our 8 day visit on Kauai and this was the first. It was close to the airport and easy to find. The view and location was outstanding. Waking up to the sunrise over the ocean and the sound of waves was exactly what we were hoping for. The beach below the apartment was gorgeous and private and was really easy to get to. There is a short path of stairs that are not steep. Most days when we went out to the beach there were only a few people there. When we were there the surf was strong and there is no lifeguard so it is advised only to swim with caution. However there is a shallow lagoon that kids and adults can wade in and the small swimming pool was clean and also not crowded when we went. The room is a bit small and if you’re staying for more than a few days it can get cramped but if you’re just using this spot for a landing place after adventuring all day that probably wouldn’t be an issue. The bed was comfortable and the fully equipped kitchen was a huge plus for us. Some of the reviews mentions rodent problem, we did not encounter any animal pests during our stay, but there was a charming chicken family who roamed around the property. Overall I give this place an 8/10 definitely would recommend but if you are planning an extended stay I would say split the days between this spot and another larger cottage or house.

Shops and restaurants within walking distance and Safeway is a short drive. There is also a super walmart between property and the airport. Great size for hubby and I but it would be tight if you add small child or above. I would stay here again.

On our first honeymoon after 20 years together. Paradise! Everything we needed was here, and nothing could beat the beauty, not to mention, privacy! We walked along the coastline, and yes there were resorts with more amenities, but that included more guests. We felt like we were in a romantic sanctuary. Cons: sticky floors, due to humidity I'm sure. 3.5/5 cleanliness, but the charm certainly outweighed the minor imperfections. Planning to return with our teens next year! **Don't feed the chickens!

We have stayed in #12 at Kapaa Sands many times. It has the best ocean view! We love the serenity of the resort. We love how Hula Now handles the details of the reservation. Dawn has been so helpful to us through the years. She is wonderful to work with. The unit is very simple, but the rewards of having a lanai that looks out on the ocean make it all worthwhile.

Not all renters are careful with others property, so it has to be hard to keep the property`s condition perfect. Hula Now (Dawn) was great & easy to work with.

We had a wonderful month at Kapaa Sands. We had stayed before in Unit 12 and were happy to return to it. The view from the porch is beautiful, and the rest of the property is lovely and well-kept too. Unit 12 met all of our needs....the kitchen was well equipped, the king-sized bed very comfortable, and all other amenities met our needs. Everyone who took care of the property was very friendly. Charlie, the manager was very friendly, full of smiles, and able to assist us when we needed help.

While the space is quite small, the location is unbeatable. Small community feel where most folks can be counted on to watch every sunrise and sunset from the best seat in the house. Beautiful beach directly in front of the unit is not a good swimming site but wonderful to walk and relax on. Will stay here as often as I can.

The space is arguably in the best location on the east side of the island. It is within walking distance to shops, great restaurants, shave ice, and a grocery store. The beach and pool are very relaxing, with ample lounge chairs available for use. The grounds are lush and very beautiful.
The room itself is quite cozy. The view is unbeatable, as it has a direct view of the ocean with a nice balcony. There were only 2 of us and we found it a little tricky to find places to store our bags. I think a luggage stand would have helped. We felt that the room was reasonably clean - however, the floors could use a good mop and vacuum.
Other reviews mentioned concerns about towels. We stayed here 4 nights and were given 4 bath towels and 2 beach towels. This was sufficient for our needs. There were also plenty of hand towels and washcloths.
The parking lot fills up after 7:00 or 8:00 PM, but we could always find street parking if needed.
Overall we had a wonderful time here. Despite the small things nitpicked in this review, I would still stay here 100 times over. It made for a vacation we will never forget!

A little dated and could of used some staples like salt and pepper but easy enough to get around that if you know not to expect anything. I know some places trash everything left. Super fun island! First -We loved it was on the beach with nothing obstructing the view (other than a few trees)! Such a beautiful view!! It’s not a luxury condo with fancy frills, but it met all we wanted for our stay. Somewhat outdated (older cabinets, shower pressure was so-so, and the smoke alarm was disabled) but it was clean and quiet and that was what was the most important to us. The gardens are BEAUTIFUL. We were very happy with the price for all we got. The bed is nice and very comfortable! Air conditioner worked great, which was a must for my husband. There’s beach chairs and an umbrella provided, as well as a soft sided cooler. You have to walk 3 flights of stairs as there’s no elevator, but we didn’t mind that. Shopping and grocery store nearby was such a nice convenience!! . We loved eating at the next door restaurant, Lava Lava, our favorite restaurant we tried in Kauai!! Cocktails at the pool tiki hut was also a huge plus (strong and tasty!). I would DEFINITELY recommend this place if you’re on a budget and want a great location overlooking the ocean!!!

The Islander on the Beach is the most relaxing place to stay. The beach views from the lanai are amazing. I really enjoyed watching the sunrise with my coffee and taro/coconut muffin every morning.

Just finished our stay and the location of this property is perfect. You can get to everywhere on the island in a short period of time from this location which makes it perfect. Not to mention the beach within steps of the unit!

The unit itself was great- clean and well maintained. There were beach chairs and an umbrella that we used that were in good shape and nice to have. Can’t say enough about the view - sunrises were amazing. So close to the beach that the waves were almost too loud :-)

The view was amazing and I love that we could go downstairs and be on the beach in 15 steps. Great restaurant just to the south~just a quick one minute walk on the lawn. Bed was comfortable, pillows were great, AC worked well, and unit was well insulated. The kitchen is very small, there is no storage for any kind of food while you are there, and there is no freezer for ice, etc. Almost no counter space but I made it work. Other than the minor issue of the kitchen, it was perfect!

We were pleasantly impressed with the beautiful views, sound of the beach, cleanliness and calm of the property. Our room was well stocked with all the things an adventure traveler would need. We arrived late but the check in was slick and easy. The location to so much was perfect.

Place is perfect for a vacation where you don't expect to cook at your place but the ability to make small meals. Balcony has a perfect view of the ocean where we watched the sunrise daily, and saw whales on multiple occasions. Can't recommend it enough.

The views were breathtaking of the sunrise, ocean and mountains. But the flora on the grounds were nicer than we saw anywhere else. The lush green foliage was topped with flowers everywhere. The grounds were immaculate, and the trees, plants , flowers and bushes were strategically planned for gorgeous settings all over the resort.

While the space is quite small, the location is unbeatable. Small community feel where most folks can be counted on to watch every sunrise and sunset from the best seat in the house. Beautiful beach directly in front of the unit is not a good swimming site but wonderful to walk and relax on. Will stay here as often as I can.

This condo will not disappoint. The location and the view is absolutely stunning. So close to the airport, shopping and restaurants. Cannot wait to come back again.

We had a wonderful month at Kapaa Sands. We had stayed before in Unit 12 and were happy to return to it. The view from the porch is beautiful, and the rest of the property is lovely and well-kept too. Unit 12 met all of our needs....the kitchen was well equipped, the king-sized bed very comfortable, and all other amenities met our needs. Everyone who took care of the property was very friendly. Charlie, the manager was very friendly, full of smiles, and able to assist us when we needed help.

We have stayed in #12 at Kapaa Sands many times. It has the best ocean view! We love the serenity of the resort. We love how Hula Now handles the details of the reservation. Dawn has been so helpful to us through the years. She is wonderful to work with. The unit is very simple, but the rewards of having a lanai that looks out on the ocean make it all worthwhile.
