Our stay was fine. We departed a few days early out of precaution due to hurricane Nolo. Location is great, walkable to Kona shops and restaurants. Unit was fine, as described, but it had a bit of a damp/musty smell. Likely due to climate and location right next to the ocean. It’s literally right outside the Lanai. I highly recommend purchasing travel insurance. If for some reason you have to leave early or can’t make the trip last minute, it will save you. Heavenly Vacations is not flexible at all if you have to make changes. They will not refund you.

Although our stay was during the Kona Low storm we still had an ocean front view of the ocean. We were able to sit on the lanai and watch the developing storm and its aftermath. Also watched surfers and saw a pod of dolphins. On the day of departure the skies cleared and we saw a beautiful view of the ocean.

Nicely updated and decorated. It had everything we needed for our 16 day stay. The ocean view is nice, the bed is firm, and the washer and dryer worked well. We didn't use the air conditioning but it has two units (livingroom and bedroom) if needed. I would stay here again.

This unit is sublimely located. The view is everything one wants when planning a HI trip. Pool in complex is nice, with an adjacent hot tub and grill area. It is located a mile or so out of downtown Kona, so near to but not stuck in the middle of things. It is nice to have full kitchen and bathroom is decent. A couple or parents with 1-2 kids would have a fabulous time using this as a home base for exploring the big island.Some of my favorite memories of my whole trip at sitting on the lanai in the morning watching boats,outriggers, swimmers, etc go by in the distance. One day I even saw a a group of dolphins. Sunsets are magical too.

We stayed 9 nights. Parking spots are narrow, but we managed. The condo was exactly as pictured and exceeded our expectations: clean, abundant linens, equipped with laundry and kitchen cleaning essentials. The pantry had some supplies; check in before going shopping. King bed was comfortable with additional bedding. AC units in bedroom and living room have their own thermostats and were quiet. Ceiling fans were helpful. Uninterrupted view of the ocean and sunset were breathtaking. Weird quirk: the front door lacks a door knob—awkward to open and close. We were glad we brought a bluetooth speaker to hook up to the TV so we could hear it.The Vacasa support was helpful when the pool key was not where the instructions said it would be, but they helped us find it fairly quickly. About Kona Reef and the immediate area around it are worth noting. The pool at Kona Reef was overall nice, though be careful about the slopes at the sides of the pool and especially on the seats in the jacuzzi. It is easy to slip and bonk your head on the side of the jacuzzi if you aren’t careful. BBQs are typically available. Also, next door is the foundation of what appears to be a dismantled condo complex that appears a bit sketchy. Kona Reef is also rather close to the shopping/bars/restaurants just up the road. Very convenient.For the price point, we were very happy with our experience and would highly recommend renting this condo. We would stay here again.

The view is amazing! We saw humpback whales and spinner dolphins from our patio. You can easily walk to downtown and beaches. It’s truly paradise and we loved it there!

It's pretty hard to argue with a condo that looks out on the ocean from about 100 feet away, maybe less. When the lanai doors are open, the sounds of waves on the rocks fills the apartment. The place was clean and had all the basic amenities for kitchen and beach. What more can you ask?

This is a beautifully locates condo that we enjoyed in December 2024. There were no issues and it had everything we needed for the week. There are enough kitchen pots, pans and appliances. If you cook in, you will need spices of course but that's it. The bed was comfortable, always hot water for a shower and fairly quiet in the evening. We enjoyed our stay and would definitely go back and rent this location and this unit if available.

Thoughtfully supplied with everything you need. From kitchen to water toys, even night lights for those late night trips to the bathroom or kitchen. Great ground floor location with parking (when available) right outside the door. One thing to note about the building, the bedrooms are mostly not air conditioned. No way to get ac to rooms because of the window configuration. Fans usually available. Otherwise, this is our go-to location each time we come to the Big Island. Hopefully this unit is available next time we visit!

Third visit to Kona and the Kona Reef property. By far this was our favorite unit. Super clean, thoughtful layout and ample supplies. Ground floor a super plus! Parking is easy, close walk to town. Appreciate the communication with Vacasa management on check-in process and checking in on how things are going. Thank you for everything We will return!

This unit is not only within walking distance from downtown but it has EVERYTHING you need for a week's getaway! Washer and dryer with provided detergent and dryer sheets. Body boards and swimming fins for use also. Best part is the walkout patio doors to the ocean. You are literally 40 feet from the water!

We’ve stayed at Kona Reef before, but a different unit. Well stocked with all the main things you’d need. Beach towels, chairs w/umbrellas for the beach, boogie boards, pool noodles. Local guidebooks.
Easy walk to the Kona bars and restaurants.
My second stay overall with Vacasa. Both places have been done really well. Nothing sketchy or iffy about it.
Only “negative” is there are no lounge chairs where you can kick back and take a nap. It’s really either the couch or the bed. The chair on the lanai have pull out foot rests, but you can’t lean your head back and nap to the sounds of the ocean. It is really a missed opportunity. Not downrating it, as it kind of seemed that way from the pictures and description. But swap out the rocker for a lounge chair and that probably nails it.

Above all else though is the location as you really couldn’t ask for a better location with a perfect view of the sunset every night. You only have to drive nine miles from the Kona international airport until you turn off into Kona Reef parking lot, and after a short walking distance we arrived at our Oceanfront Condo. We stepped into the immaculately clean, beautifully decorated condo and were stunned by the sight of the ocean and the sound of the surf which was a mere 30 yards in front of our condo. Coffee shops, restaurants, live music, and shopping were within a short walking distance from our condo which saved us hundreds of dollars in parking fees. We spent every night on our lanai with drinks in hand to watch the unobstructed beautiful sunsets. We enjoyed the grill/hot tub/pool area as well by grilling some Salmon. We have found our vacation spot and have already planned a trip here in October and another in April 2024.

Wonderful condo on the ocean. You fall asleep listening to the waves. Condo has everything you need: comfy beds, full kitchen, beautiful lanai to sit on. Did we mention the million dollar view? We saw whales a bunch of times in the distance. Great home base. Must do's: Volcanoes National Park; night snorkel with Manta Rays; Hawaii Botanical Gardens; Black Sand Beach. Would stay here again in a heartbeat.

Stayed 6 nights in this condo. Loved it! Everything you need is there. Did we mention the million dollar view? The water, the waves, the whales -- amazing. Beds were comfy. Kitchen was great. Loved the area as a home base. The town was fun to explore. Did whale watching, a night snorkel with manta rays, drove 2 hours to Volcanoes National Park and the Black Sand Beach. Lots to do here on the Big Island. But we loved coming back and sitting on our lanai watching the waves and the sunsets every evening. Happy we chose this condo. If we had to say anything, the parking was a bit tight. Luckily we had a smaller van. This is the condo you want to rent.

The ocean front view was amazing! We would have been content to just sit on the patio watching the boats, surfers, and waves, if there hadn’t been tons of other things to do within walking distance.
The furnishings were fun and the shower was delightful. Four adults stayed here, and had plenty of room.

We make this trip every year, and I have found the perfect spot finally! The condo is perfect, with an actual bedroom, not a studio. Location… we were basically in the ocean! Whale watching from the lanai. Lastly the ability to walk to town saved us hundreds of dollars in parking, and kept us moving more while on vacation!!

Overall great view and location! Ground floor facing the water and a short walk to downtown kona. We never had issues getting parking in lot near unit.
Appreciate that there were towels and a small cooler.
Only downside were bugs. We found a millapede and cockroach in unit upon arriving. And there were lots of cockroaches living in wall outside behind patio. The floors had some dime size crumbs when we arrived too. Only other weird thing is that details of unit entry, etc came in email that linked to vacasa... and don't show up in vrbo booking details.

We enjoyed our stay in this condo. The location was very convenient and the view was spectacular! We enjoyed bird and dolphin watching from the porch and loved how close it was to the pool. The basket full of Hawaiian treats was such a fun surprise and anything we needed was provided. We hope to return in the future and will fondly look back on our stay at Kona Reef Condos.

I booked this room for my parents first visit to the Big Island, Hawaii and they absolutely loved it! I knew it was top priority to have Oceanfront as this would probably be their only time here. They had wonderful amenities and they loved the lanai to relax, listen to the waves crash and read a book. Steps away from the pool and hot tub and just a few minutes walk to all the shopping and food.
I have stayed at many of these condos at Kona reef with my husband and I 100% recommend this room ! My parents 100% recommend as well!!

It is rocky right in front of the unit but I did see a few people go out on the rocks and snorkle. We chose to just go to the small beach right next to the resort which is a very short walk. The unit had most things you would need in the kitchen. It has an AC which was adequate at night but during the day we just left the sliding glass doors open when we were there for the view and sound of the ocean. We were there in July so it was very hot but we just chose the coolest clothes we could wear. They even had a few games and stuff for people to use including chairs and unbrellas for the beach which was amazing. You can snorkle at the close beach but we also drove to other locations that were not too far. The ABC store had lots of stuff you would need and restaurants and bars are walking distance. We chose to rent a car though but I saw people use the trolly and the bus. We would love to stay here again.

You can snorkle at the close beach but we also drove to other locations that were not too far. The ABC store had lots of stuff you would need and restaurants and bars are walking distance. We chose to rent a car though but I saw people use the trolly and the bus. We would love to stay here again.

Why go anywhere else when you wake up to the sound of the surf and go to sleep by the same! Spectacular sunsets every night!
Lovely oceanside condo

This is a nice condo in a great location five minutes from downtown Kona with a community pool and private lanai which both look out onto the ocean. The common areas and pool are clean and there is a shaded parkade. We have stayed in the complex three times and this apartment twice. The suite has most things necessary for a comfy stay for two people.
