Neighborhood

The neighborhood:
Pono Kai Resort is set on Kapaa's oceanfront, near the town's restaurants, coffee shops, galleries, and small stores. The Ke Ala Hele Makalae path runs along the nearby coast for a stroller-friendly walk or an easy bike ride, while Wailua River kayaking and East Side farmers markets give you simple outing options. This is Kapaa at its most convenient: beach access close by, a local town feel, and enough to do without filling every hour.

Transit

Getting around:
Kapaa sits along Kauai's Royal Coconut Coast, about 15 to 20 minutes from Lihue Airport. A rental car is recommended for exploring the island, though the main strip along Kuhio Highway is walkable, with beaches, shops, restaurants, and the popular coastal path all within easy reach on foot. Grocery stores and casual dining are close by. Parking is generally available at condos and along the street, making this an easy, low stress base.

Was very clean and the beach was as advertised. No A/C was not a problem as the fans worked perfect.

Great location

Jodi · Apr 2026

This is a nice property and a great location. The views were great, the ocean is right there, and it is within walking distance of shopping and food. The pool and pool area were nice. It was roomy for a group of 4. We appreciated the fans and the beach chairs. We would definitely stay there again.
