The view is spectacular!
The unit is fairly well appointed with most anything you could want or need as basics. It is a great, convenient, uncluttered, spacious layout (we extended our stay in Hawaii and, as this unit was spoken for by the next guests, we had to move; we found another unit within the same building, a Studio, higher up, that was, literally 1/2 the size of this unit; had we initially been in that second place, we would have been completely happy with IT, but, as we had become accustomed to the spaciousness of THIS unit, it was a letdown to have to get cozier).
Nothing beat breakfast and beach-gazing on the lanai…!
And the location, at the Northernmost end of the useable beach, gives the option of relative privacy, relaxation on the lawn or at the pool, or access to the Beach Walk beginningimmediately South of the property and stretching all the way South, the length of Ka’anapali Beach, 1 hour each way to the Hyatt, with Whalers’ Village just past the half-way mark; great walking! And the surfing and snorkelling are decent right in front of the building; so convenient.
The shopping centre across the main roadwas adequate, but our favourite soon became the Mon/Wed/Fri Farmers’ Market (and permanent store) an additional five minutes walk up the road; great local produce, freshly-made foods and selection of locally-made products and packaged items; best Acai Bowls we found in Maui; and some local craft stores for take-homes and gifts.
Parking was much preferable to us at Mahana than at the 3 other places we needed to park at, daily (visiting family and friends); there was always a convenient, available spot and walking distances were quite minimal (compared to Westin, which was a long walk to the front entrance, let alone within the complex…and the Honua Kai, which was both a longer walk and not well lit, so it felt kind of isolated and even creepy); never a problem at Mahana.
We did have an issue that needed to be addressed; the management team responded in a timely fashion and came up with a makeshift solution that they put in place quickly and seamlessly; as we were checking out, the permanent fix was being done — so, subsequent guests should not be inconvenienced at all.
All in all, this is a lovely place with a nice layout and an amazing view.
