We love the big Island and the location of Fairway Villas is great for getting around. South Kohala is the desert side of the Island. It can be raining everywhere else on the Island , but here. With a car you can make a day trip to just about any location. Groceries are close and convenient either up the hill in the village or a pleasant walk over to the Queens shops. The kitchen is well appointed and ready for preparing complete dinners or packing lunches for the day. This was our first time on the third floor and we really enjoyed the breezes and views of snow capped Mauna Loa, and Mauna Kea from the balcony. We are a snorkel and beach family and Carol has her unit equipped for family beach FUN. Fins, masks, snorkels, chairs, umbrellas, cooler, beach toys, boogie boards, everything but sunscreen. My wife, two teenage sons and I were very comfortable here with each getting plenty of personal space. As soon as we get the academic calendar for 2018, we will contact Carol to plan our spring break. As a luxury side trip, I would recommend if you go to Volcanoes NP you book a night there. The lava flow glow is not to be missed.
